Workshop Wednesday: Workshopping myself

Folks, I’m getting old(er).

Today is my birthday, and I’m feeling some kind of way. I’m twenty-nine (29) years old and for once, I feel like I am where I need to be. I’m 60,000 words and 11 chapters into my novel, I have a career I love, I have an anthology coming out, and I’m starting new literary projects that I can’t wait to tell you about.(Shh! It’s a secret!)

It feels like I’ve been workshopping my identity and the person I had the potential to become for the last twenty-nine years. And while that potential is ever-evolving, ever-changing… I like the person I am now. I like who I am continually becoming.

This year is the year I Become the Monster. I am going to get into scotch. I’m going to finish this book. I’m going to submit the other one. I’m going to play video games, and read books, and listen to podcasts. I’m going to run 8 miles non-stop. I’m going to love myself.

I’m going to love the person I am and the person I become.

I’m going to love myself.
