Five Sentence Fiction: “Greyhound Genetics”

Wrote up a short story for this week’s Five Sentence Fiction. The one-word inspiration for this week: “home.”

Greyhound Genetics

My old man suffers from an acute case of wanderlust. We’d never stayed in one place for more than four years at a time before building our own home and “settling down.” That was eight years ago; he is starting to talk of moving again, and my mother just smiles sadly as she listens to his reasons. I wonder when I should tell them that I inherited that gene; my bones are itching to pack my things and hop on the next bus outta town.

As the saying goes “Home is where the heart is”. In this story that seem to be the case. I like this story.

Yes, there is more than a little nonfiction in this I think.
