In my goals list for the year, I called out my lack of reading as a huge bummer for me, a former library gremlin and two-time English major. I think “read more” is one of the most popular of “resolutions” — a quick internet search served me many, many examples of what a “New Year’s goal to read more” might look like. I can’t let uniformity and tedium get in my way, however. This is important to me.
And so, we tackle the dreaded TBR.
Some of the following books have been on my TBR for ages, some are here because I have physical copies staring me in the face, and some have been added today. Join me if you like — I’ll likely post thoughts about each of these.
In no particular order, except the first column (which are the ones I will be starting with):
Dungeon Crawler Carl (Matt Dinniman)
The Way of Kings (Brandon Sanderson)
Uprooted (Naomi Novik)
A Honeybee Heart Has Five Openings (Helen Jukes)
Bury Your Gays (Chuck Tingle)
The Tainted Cup (Robert Jackson Bennett)
How to Ruin Everything (George Watsky)
No Son of Mine (Jonathan Corcoran)
I’m in Love with MOTHMAN (Paige Lavoie)
Verity Vox and the Curse of Foxfire (Don Martin)
Mistborn (Brandon Sanderson)
Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow (Gabrielle Zevin)
I don’t know if I want to do a ban on buying books until I’ve read these, because that sounds like torture. However, it might be the motivation I need (aside from the promise of the dopamine I’ll get when I actually read them). So . . . We’ll see how this goes.
