I figure if I’m going to do this thing, I should actually do it right. Here are the things I’m hoping to accomplish with my foray into National Novel Writing Month:

1.) Write at least 1,000 words per day.
2.) Make writing every day a habit (that I continue after November, clearly)
3.) Get excited about writing again!
4.) Post “inspiration” picture every day in October.
5.) End goal: 30,000 words (I know it’s not the full 50k, but if I make it anywhere in the ballpark of 30k – which I will, if I’m adhering to the first item on this list – I will be happy).
6.) End the month with: a detailed map of my country; fleshed-out characters; a clear idea of where to go next with the project.

I don’t think this is too much to ask for my first NaNoWriMo. I can’t wait to get started!

How about you guys? How are your NaNo plans coming? And for the veterans – What should I expect? Am I setting myself up for anything unpleasant down the line? HELP ME!

Yes, definitely realistic goals. I think getting hyped about writing again is one of the best thing about NaNoWriMo, even if you don’t plan to do the 50k.

Yes! That’s really why I signed up in the first place. I’ve been feeling pretty stagnant as far as my personal writing goes after changing my life around so much. Hopefully NaNo can help!
